Cast and Crew Biographies

Nick Asa (Montano) is from Valle Crucis, NC, and graduated from ASU with a double major in Math and Computer Science.  Working various IT jobs brought him to Charlotte, where he has lived since 1998.  Some of his favorite roles have been Hamlet, Will Parker in Oklahoma!, Mortimer in Arsenic & Old Lace, and the kajillion or so characters he played in Greater Tuna and A Tuna Christmas.

Jennifer Lynn Barnette (Desdemona) is so grateful to be working with such a talented and passionate cast and crew. Thanks to my family and friends for the constant support!

Trista (Rothe) Bremer (Lighting Designer) is excited to be spending her third season with The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival. She received degrees from Greensboro College and Florida State. Trista is a freelance Lighting Designer in the Charlotte area. Thanks for supporting local theatre!

Joe Copley (Iago) is the co-founder and Managing Director of Collaborative Arts. He is an award-winning actor and director, most recently directing The Comedy of Errors, the first show in this year’s Shakespeare Festival. Joe appeared as Brutus in Julius Caesar at last year's festival, and directed its production of Twelfth Night. He is delighted to be a part of another great Shakespeare experience.

She is very excited to be bringing Shakespeare to life outside of her classroom and is extremely grateful for this opportunity! She would like to thank everyone for their support!

Erin B. Dougherty (Costume Designer) is an assistant professor and resident costume designer for Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. She rejoins Collaborative Arts after this summer’s Comedy of Errors and last season’s Twelfth Night. She is excited to work with this year’s talented cast and crew.

Adam Ewer (Cassio) is delighted to come from New York City to spend the summer in Charlotte with this wonderful troupe. He studied acting with renowned teacher Silkie O-Ishi.  Having appeared in several Shakespeare plays to date, he is proud to bring this play to life for you. Thanks to Joe and Elise!

Peter Smeal (Brabantio) has a BFA from William Carey University (No, you’ve never heard of it), a great job with Children’s Theatre of Charlotte and a generous pack of talented friends to be inspired by (read: “…stolen from”). He also has an indomitable will, an inimitable way, an unquenchable thirst, an irrepressible spirit and the firm, and the pert physique of a seventeen-year-old cheerleader.

Brian Seagroves (Roderigo) is a recent graduate from Appalachian State University with a BA in Theatre Performance. Favorite past roles include Caliban in The Tempest, Jim in The Glass Menagerie, and Sheriff Reynolds in Bat Boy! The Musical.
