Shakespeare at the Green - 2010

Part of the 2010 Charlotte Shakespeare Festival

Directed by Joe Copley

A big thank you to all 3,573 audience members who came out to see THE COMEDY OF ERRORS. Despite a wet start, we ended the run with great attendance. Thanks also to all the artists who donated their time to make this such a successful show

If you enjoyed one set of twins in last season’s hit production of Twelfth Night, then double your pleasure this summer with The Comedy of Errors. Not one, but two sets of estranged twins find themselves unwittingly wandering through the streets of the same town, where the men are jealous, the women are furious and there’s a priceless gold chain that everyone wants.

Festivities

In celebration of its 5th anniversary, The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival will launch a new pre-show performance series called Festivities featuring a variety of local artists. Since many of our audience members arrive very early for our shows to reserve seats, the festival is pleased to present special pre-show entertainment starting approximately one hour before each show’s curtain time.  Whet your appetite with a short performance lasting 20-40 minutes featuring local performing artists from a variety of disciplines.

Family Days at The Green…including Free Educational Workshops

Collaborative Arts will offer free educational Shakespeare workshops Sundays at The Green at 5pm, prior that evening’s performance of The Comedy of Errors. This workshop, led by local actor and drama instructor Greta Marie Zandstra (the actress playing Courtesan), will focus on “playing Shakespeare” and will consist of fun, energetic and interactive games and exercises providing insights into the text of the play. No prior experience or training is necessary. The workshop is open to young people ages 10 and up, as well as adults. Families are invited to attend together. Attendance is limited to 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations necessary.

Wednesday is Shakespeare Trivia Night at The Green

Every Wednesday during the run of The Comedy of Errors, patrons can test their knowledge during Shakespeare Trivia Night. The game begins at 7:15. Prizes will be awarded.
