Collaborative Arts Presents As You Like It June 1-17

Join us as free, outdoor Shakespeare returns to Charlotte

Collaborative Arts will stage Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like It outdoors at The Green in Uptown Charlotte. Performances take place Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, with two Sunday matinees at 3:00pm on June 3 and 17. The Green is located between College Street and Tryon Street close to 2nd Street, across from the Charlotte Convention Center.

About the Show
This music-filled comedy follows Rosalind, Shakespeare’s most charming heroine, as she escapes to the Forest of Arden. Disguised as a boy and joined by her cousin and their reluctant fool, Rosalind encounters local rustics, her banished father, and her true love Orlando on her journey through Arden. A witty and wise comedy about the sexes, As You Like It highlights the transformative power of love. "All the world's a stage" in this modern update set in the South in the 1950's and performed in the round at The Green.

There is no admission charge for As You Like It, but donations will be accepted. No reservations are necessary. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and may bring food and beverages, if desired. Wine, beer and food will also be available for purchase at the evening performances from local restaurants located at The Green.

Free Educational Workshops
Collaborative Arts will offer free educational Shakespeare workshops each Saturday of the run at The Green from 4-6pm. These workshops, led by local actor and professional instructor Beth Yost, will focus on “playing Shakespeare” and will consist of fun, energetic and interactive games and exercises providing insights into the text of the play. No prior experience or training is necessary. The workshops are open to young people ages 12 and up, as well as adults. Families are invited to attend together. Workshops are limited to 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
